About Celerity Craft
Celerity Craft is an innovative marine technology startup developing Dynamic Air Cushion Vehicles (DACVs) — next-generation, low-energy, amphibious vessels that combine the speed and efficiency of hovercraft with the stability and versatility of trimarans. Our patented Helico-centrifugal Air Rails and multi-regime control systems are redefining littoral and inland water transport for commercial, recreational, and defense applications.
Based in Squamish, BC, we are scaling rapidly from prototypes (2.4m, 4m, and upcoming 12m vessels) toward production. We’re a small, high-impact team of engineers and innovators passionate about sustainable marine propulsion, advanced controls, and real-world deployment.
The Role: Electronics Engineer
We are looking for a skilled Electronics Engineer to join our core engineering team. You will play a key role in the design, integration, and testing of electronic systems for our DACV platforms — from sensor suites and power distribution to fly-by-wire ride control and autonomous capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic control systems, including embedded hardware, PCBs, and wiring harnesses for marine environments.
- Integrate sensors (IMU, GPS, ultrasonic, pressure, etc.), actuators, and propulsion controllers (fans, waterjets, hybrid diesel/battery/hydrogen).
- Implement and tune real-time control algorithms for stability, ride quality, and multi-regime operation (air cushion, planing, etc.).
- Support system-level testing, troubleshooting, and iteration on prototypes and scale models.
- Collaborate with mechanical, propulsion, and software teams on full vehicle integration.
- Contribute to documentation for classification (ABS), regulatory compliance, and manufacturing.
- Help build scalable electronics architectures for future production vessels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, control electronics, or vehicle electrification (marine, automotive, aerospace, or robotics experience is a strong asset).
- Proficiency with microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi, etc.), PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium, or similar), and communication protocols (CAN, UART, Ethernet).
- Experience with sensors, power electronics, EMI/EMC considerations, and harsh-environment design (IP-rated, vibration, corrosion).
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a fast-paced prototype environment.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
Bonus Qualifications
- Marine or autonomous vehicle experience.
- Knowledge of fly-by-wire, real-time control systems, or ROS.
- Familiarity with defense or dual-use applications.
- Hands-on prototyping and testing background.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with meaningful equity participation in a high-growth startup.
- Direct impact on groundbreaking marine technology.
- Hands-on work with physical prototypes and rapid iteration cycles.
- Collaborative, mission-driven team in beautiful Squamish, BC (outdoor lifestyle + proximity to Vancouver).
- Opportunity to help shape the company as we scale manufacturing and secure major grants/partnerships.
- Flexible work environment with potential for hybrid/remote elements for the right candidate.
