Celerity Craft, based in Squamish, British Columbia, is developing a groundbreaking marine vessel using ground effect technology that outperforms traditional ships and boats in speed, comfort, and energy efficiency. Our platform, whether powered by conventional diesel engines, gas turbines, or zero-emission solutions like batteries or fuel cells, offers significantly lower CO2 emissions. The vessel’s ultra-low drag enables long-range travel, surpassing the capabilities of hydrofoils while avoiding marine animals, debris strikes, and reducing underwater noise.
Unlike hovercraft, wing-in-ground, or hydrofoil designs, our vessel features a trimaran hull with innovative aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and a unique propulsion system. The marine industry’s shift toward sustainable energy solutions is creating a global demand for innovative technology like ours, as efficient water-based transport can drive economic growth in coastal regions.
Squamish, where we are based, is a perfect environment for nature lovers who are passionate and driven. Our leadership includes a serial entrepreneur with a Harvard MBA and an engineering team led by a former Tesla engineer.
About the Role
As a mechatronics engineer, you will play a key role in refining the control strategies which ensure the vehicle can be operated safely with minimal training while ensuring that passengers’ comfort is maintained during highspeed travel over rough seas.
Specific data acquisition will be needed for both small-scale and full-scale models to characterize the vehicle behaviors and develop mathematical models. You will collaborate with our prototyping engineers to design the experiments, as well as play an active role in conducting them.
You will also be touching on hydrodynamics and aerodynamics. Experience with radio-controlled vehicles is a plus. Experience with Marine engineering is a strong advantage.
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented individual who can balance immediate goals with long-term scalability. Your insights will shape the future of marine transportation, helping us build and maintain a competitive edge as we continue to refine our intellectual property. You will report directly to the Head of Design and Technology and work closely with our team in Squamish.
